History on the High Seas
Voyages, Explorers & Pirates: Set sail through the incredible history of travel by sea! 🧭🏴☠️⛵
How did humans cross vast oceans before GPS, engines or even modern maps? Students will journey through the fascinating history of sea travel, from the very first rafts and canoes to great ocean voyages, global trade routes and the golden age of pirates.
Along the way, they’ll discover Polynesian wayfinding, Viking voyages, famous explorers, navigation by the stars, compasses and sextants, and investigate how travelling by sea changed the world. And, of course, we’ll uncover the real history of pirates, separating swashbuckling myths from what life aboard a pirate ship was actually like!
Using literacy skills, students will bring history to life through captain’s logs, ship diaries, letters home, maps and creative writing, before choosing their own voyage, vessel or historical figure to investigate.
Perfect for young adventurers who love history, exploration, ships and, of course, pirates!

Travelling Vets: Animal Biology

Discover the forces that make our world, and the universe, work! Students will get hands-on with states of matter, physical and chemical changes, simple machines and Newton’s Laws of Motion, using experiments, observations and model building to bring physics to life.
The programme finishes with the ultimate engineering challenge: students will combine everything they’ve learnt to design and build their very own Rube Goldberg Machine, creating an ingenious chain reaction using forces, motion and simple machines.
Perfect for curious minds who love experimenting, building and figuring out how things work!

Explore. Diagnose. Treat. Protect. 🐾🌍🩺
Step into the shoes of a travelling wildlife vet and journey around the world discovering the incredible biology of animals and how vets care for them when they are sick or injured.
From elephants and tigers to whales, birds of prey and reptiles, students will investigate anatomy, body systems, disease, injuries and animal adaptations, while discovering how vets use scans, surgery, medication, rehabilitation and conservation medicine to help their patients.
Along the way, students will become veterinary researchers too, developing their English skills through vet logs, patient case files, field reports, research papers and travel diaries, before choosing their own animal patient to research and present at our end-of-term Vet Conference.
